This hike threads through the most scenic canyon in the Sacramento Ranger District. We will be hiking to the ruins of a stone cabin, 3 miles up canyon. This hike is very demanding but the rewards are worth it. You'll see some amazing views of Tularosa Basin. Agave, ocotillo, yucca, and mesquite, along with a wide variety of grasses and an occasional prickly pear, grow along the trail. The trail winds around the dry arroyos that make for scenic side canyons. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and lunch. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and plan on roughly 5 hours of hiking.
