JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: Maintains ledgers and financial records in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Prepares fiscal and management reports and is responsible for a wide range of bookkeeping and accounting related activities. Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers and prepares operating and financial reports. Understands and maintains confidentiality, internal accuracy and conformity with established accounting procedures. Works closely with other members of the accounting department, is cross trained and able to perform other accounting duties as well.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Responsible for the payroll functions of the organizations, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Assists in safeguarding and administering company assets.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entires that are posed to the general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and retained earnings, and assists in the preparation of the balance sheet, income statement, and other financial reports.
Acquires and develops understanding of Part 32 Accounting Principals.
Acquires knowledge and principles behind NECA pooling.
Collects appropriate data and assists in the preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
Maintains work order detail for various activities including capital projects, maintenance projects and sales projects.
Prepares supporting documentation and maintains detailed work papers for all work activities including: journal entries, work order entries, payroll entries and data gathered for both internal and external reports.
Performs all other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory duties apply to this position.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Associate degree and four (4) years’ experience in accounting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes
Proficient with Microsoft Office software
Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to make independent decisions
Able to multitask projects and respond to deadlines
Ability to think conceptually, examine and trace general ledger accounts and entries
Ability to determine sounds of financial reports
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Possess a valid driver’s license
