Alamogordo Fire Department is actively recruiting professionals who want to be part of a growing and progressive department committed to providing quality customer service. Volunteer Firefighters respond to calls for service in their communities such as fires, natural disasters, and public service assistance calls. Train alongside the career Alamogordo Firefighters. Volunteer Firefighters also participate in community events and promote the prevention of fires and other emergencies. RECRUITMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

Interested in becoming an Alamogordo Volunteer Firefighter? 

  • You must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.  Will be required to obtain a Class E Drivers License prior to operating any department vehicle. 
  • You must attend two training sessions per month. Training is held Wednesdays from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, and every other Saturday from 8:00 am -5:00 pm.
  • You must have the desire to help others, better your community, and work with a strong team as a contributing member.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Volunteer Fire Fighter is skilled work, with an emphasis on combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires; answering emergency calls; maintaining and operating of specialized fire department equipment; maintenance of facilities; and educating the general public on fire prevention.
