The Counseling Center is currently seeking to hire a Community Health Equity Promotion Liaison / Assistant Coordinator to work Part-time in our office. We are located in Alamogordo, NM. (Otero County)
Under the direction of The Counseling Center, Inc., and Health Council Executive Committee, facilitates community efforts to ensure equitable long-term planning that addresses health and health equity outcomes. This initiative falls under the statewide CDC Health Equity & Community Rebuilding initiative and the OCCHC Health Equity Action Team.
Job Requirements:

  • Must be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of employment. May involve county-wide travel as needed.
  • Some college coursework in Public Health Social Work, or another relevant field -and or CHW certification or experience in health education, health promotion, community outreach, or community mobilizing.
  • Bilingual (able to communicate in English & Spanish)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Advocacy experience
  • Ability to communicate with diverse populations
Physical Demands
  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking
  • Occasional lifting of supplies and/or equipment
  • Occasional driving short and /or long distances.
  • Frequent use of computers and keyboards.
Working Conditions:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse groups, including health council members, healthcare providers, residents, schools, government, and others.
  • Work closely with the HC Coordinator and the OCCHC Executive Committee to ensure all activities identified in the scope of work are carried out in a timely manner and adhere to established COVID safety practices and will promote vaccine efficacy and uptake.
  • Build and maintain engagement among Health Equity Action Team members.
  • Engage in all meetings (in-person as conditions allow and remote) and all training outlined in the scope of work.
  • Act as community liaison for all outreach activities and engage with community members, NMDOH health promotion team, and others as appropriate.
  • Coordinate data collection and analysis related to the project. Engage the community in data-driven decisions when possible.
  • Assist OCCHC Coordinator with drafting all required project reports.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and performs as-needed operations of the Health Equity Action Team.
  • Attend all CHI, NMAHC, and NMDOH relevant training and meetings.
  • Assist OCCHC Coordinator with maintaining files, appropriate reports, minutes of meetings, general correspondence, information, etc. This may include websites and social media platforms.
  • Represents Health Equity Action Team and OCCHC at public forums and community meetings and collaborates with others to ensure program success.
  • Provides guidance and feedback to Health Equity Action Team.
  • Builds capacity of team/coalition to ensure accomplishment of goals and credibility within the community.
