How many times have you heard the phrase “There is nothing to do in Alamogordo?” Chances are you hear this phrase a few times a month. I'm even guilty of using this phrase myself, but I have learned one thing by putting out this weekly newsletter. ALAMOGORDO ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING GOING ON.
People are always going to complain that there is nothing to do in Alamogordo, but the truth is that Alamogordo is bursting at the seams with fun things to do. From the zoo to the city, concerts, and festivals, the Space Hall to Main Street, and the mall to craft fairs and car shows. Seriously, I can go on all day about how active our community is.
I love spending my Monday tracking down events to put in the newsletter because this shows me the impact they have on Alamogordo. These events are so important for Alamogordo because they provide opportunities for people to get out of the house, socialize and have fun. They also bring visitors to our area to positively impact our economy. These events also support local businesses and organizations through sponsorships or vendor opportunities.
So, next time you hear the phrase “There is nothing to do in Alamogordo.” Encourage the person saying it to sign up for The Center of Commerce’s weekly newsletter or check out our events calendar to see what is going on that week. If you have an idea for an event MAKE IT HAPPEN don’t hesitate to reach out to The Center of Commerce for guidance or to be pointed in the right direction. Additionally, you can suggest they get involved with a local club or organization to discover new opportunities for fun and adventure. Together, we can continue to make Alamogordo a vibrant and exciting place to live.
Personally, I am thrilled to be part of a community with a thriving calendar. I can't wait to see all the new and returning events to be added to our calendar every week.
